What is C-CAPS?

A certified Center for Abuse Prevention and Safety is part of a growing network of disability service organizations dedicated to safety, respect, and empowerment, C-CAPS organizations invest in the certification of at least 4 LEAP trainers and commit to a minimum of 2 LEAP trainings each year.

What is LEAP?

Leadership for Empowerment and Abuse Prevention (LEAP)© is an evidence-based curriculum that provides training about healthy relationships and abuse prevention to groups of adults and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. LEAP is delivered by two trainers, in (4) 90-minute sessions. The curriculum addresses the Virginia Quality Service Review’s recommendation to increase a person’s awareness of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
